Resources About Composite Doors
This article follows on from a previous one which had a title of ‘Some Technical Specifications of Composite Doors’. Further technical specifications of external doors are presented here.
Outer Frame
The door outer frame would be dedicated to the specifications stipulated by the country of manufacturing, along with about 55 mm internal shoulder so that the plasterlines are deep, low threshold of aluminum, meeting the required regulations, reinforced aluminum, center keep and pocket keeps that are fully adjustable, with add ons of 15 mm, 25 mm or 50 mm.
Thresholds and Door Sizes
The thresholds of composite doors have UPVC outer frames with tolerance limits between 0 to 4 mm. The minimum and maximum overall sizes of door frames of single and double doors would vary with each manufacturer but would be within normal industry limits. For external single or offset doors, the standard minimum width could be around 1150 mm and maximum width could be around 1350 mm. The minimum height threshold would be about 2000 mm and maximum height threshold would be about 2100 mm.
For double door sets, the overall door frame sizes would be higher. The minimum width would be around 1550 mm and the maximum width around 1900 mm. The minimum height threshold would be about 2000 mm and the maximum height threshold would be about 2100 mm. There are however a number of factors that could mean that the size could differ; such as the types of materials that are being used.
Glazing Systems
The glazing systems in composite doors are generally of cassette type with grained effect. The inner and outer channels of the external glazing cassettes would contain complete silicone weather seals. The standard double glazed units would contain up to 26 mm thickness designs that comply with BS EN 1279-2-2002 standard. The laminated and toughened glasses used in the glazed units would confirm to BS 6206. The maximum value of the doorset would be 2.0 w/m K.
